US country stars, MIDLAND are heading to Australia this month to celebrate their latest studio album THE LAST RESORT: GREETINGS FROM.
The Grammy nominated trio will be kicking off their Australian tour in Rockhampton on Friday 25th August, before heading down the east coast including a stop in the Australian home of country – Tamworth!
The country music superstars first visit to Australia was part of the international contingent headlining the inaugural C2C Music festival in September 2019. Showcasing their Texas County/traditional country style, they gripped audiences that loved their retro 70s country sound.
The hooks, though, are undeniable. Worm at the bottom of a tequila bottle strength earworms, Midland understands how to pull you into their somewhat narcotic kind of Country. Hailed by The New York Times for “their retro-country elegance,” they have the smoothest edge of anyone in Country. It’s strong stuff that goes down easy, the sort of music to put on as you drive into the sunset or sunrise.
“We wanted ‘The Last Resort’ to be a track released before the album arrives,” Cameron Duddy explains, “because it’s kind of a manifesto for everything else. You know sometimes the last resort doesn’t mean you’ve run out of options, but more that you’ve decided you’re going for the place or the thing that’s going to set you free. That freedom of letting go and falling into space, giving it over to fate? That’s where real living begins…”
THE LAST RESORT: GREETINGS FROM album represents an extension of that sound, a getaway where memories resurface, heartaches linger, and hangovers are plentiful. A MIDLAND show is all about a good time, blending those classic honkytonk vibes with their neo traditional sounds and they are bringing it all your way this August and September!
