Sammi Palinkas, the vibrant and talented Australian contemporary Country artist, has released her latest single, “She’s Mine to Love”.
A lyrically powerful and autobiographical Country ballad conveying the importance of learning to love oneself before you can love someone else, “She’s Mine to Love” is an empowering song that demonstrates Sammi’s artistry, capability as a vocalist, and depth as a songwriter. With her dynamic range on display and powerful stage presence, we see a different side to Sammi in this song that pays homage to late 90’s and early 2000’s country, when the likes of Faith Hill, Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood were topping the charts with power ballads that pulled at the heart strings.
“When Rod and I started to pen this one together, we wanted to write a song that gave people the opportunity to get to know me beyond the happy and bubbly person I am most of the time. After making a start, we invited regular Nashville co-writer Sally Barris to join us” Palinkas said. “‘She’s Mine to Love’ is probably the most important song I have ever written, and it’s certainly the most vulnerable. It’s about my journey learning one of the most important lessons I’ve ever learned – the need to love myself, look after myself, and put myself first. It took many years for me to realise the only person who had the power to do that and love that inner child of mine, was me. I’ve certainly had my fair share of life challenges and situations where you end up questioning your self-worth, lose your self-belief and self-confidence, don’t meet your own expectations of yourself, and pay too much attention to that inner voice we can’t silence that is cruel when we need it to love us the most. I wanted to turn my story and life lesson into something beautiful, encouraging, and empowering, so those who heard the song would not feel alone in their emotions. It’s no secret that I have always loved the writing styles of Diane Warren, especially the ballads she has penned over time. “She’s Mine to Love” is so authentically me because some of my earliest memories of loving country music stemmed from singing those Country ballads that delivered a story and message that resonated with me. Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, and Shania Twain all had those one or two ballads that could stop an audience for all the right reasons.
